Europe is coming to Uherské Hradiště. ISSLIB 2026 will bring together students, academics, and the professional world
3. September 2026What happens when students and academics from five European countries come together in one place, and you add sustainability, the circular economy, smart logistics, and a healthy dose of knowledge sharing?
ISSLIB 2026. The international student symposium, hosted by the Faculty of Logistics and Crisis Management at TBU in Uherské Hradiště from September 7 to 11, 2026, will offer much more than just a professional program. It will bring new experiences, connections, inspiration, and perhaps even collaborations that will continue long after the event itself has ended.
Twenty-three international students and approximately 12 faculty members from partner universities in Slovenia, Croatia, Portugal, and Poland will travel to Uherské Hradiště. For several days, the faculty will thus serve as a meeting place where diverse perspectives on logistics, business, and the challenges facing companies and society as a whole today will converge.
This year’s edition is subtitled “Sustainability, Circular Economy, and Smart Logistics in Practice.” And it is precisely that last phrase—“in practice”—that captures its central idea. Participants will not merely learn about sustainability, the circular economy, and smart logistics in lecture halls. They can look forward to specialized workshops, team activities, and, above all, field trips to companies where they’ll be able to see how the principles discussed in academic settings are applied in the day-to-day operations of businesses.
“It’s important to us that international cooperation isn’t just a formal item on paper. We want students and academics to truly work together, share experiences, and see how specialized knowledge is applied in practice. Face-to-face meetings are one of the best ways to build long-term partnerships,” says Prof. Ing. Zuzana Tučková, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Logistics and Crisis Management.
ISSLIB 2026 will be attended by representatives from the University of Maribor—Faculty of Logistics, the University of Zagreb—Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo, the Wrocław University of Science and Technology, and the Warsaw University of Life Sciences. It is important to the faculty that the event in Uherské Hradiště brings together not only long-term partners but also representatives from universities with which international cooperation is just beginning to develop.
It is precisely this personal contact that often turns a good partnership into a truly effective collaboration. A single joint workshop can lead to further student mobility, a professional discussion to a new project, and a casual conversation over coffee to an idea that might otherwise never have emerged.
More Than Just an Academic Program
ISSLIB won’t be just about logistics. The faculty also wants to show international guests Uherské Hradiště and the region where UTB is located. The program will therefore offer opportunities to explore local culture, social life, and the business environment.
One of the activities will be the International Food and Culture Lunch, during which individual international groups will present their country, culture, and traditional cuisine. It is precisely these kinds of informal moments that tend to be among the most valuable parts of international gatherings. During these moments, students exchange not only their academic experiences but also stories, customs, travel tips, and perspectives on life in their respective countries.
And that is exactly what international cooperation is all about. It is not just about institutions collaborating, but above all about people coming together.
A Return After Seven Years
This year’s ISSLIB holds special significance for the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Humanities (FLKŘ). The International Student Symposium is returning to the faculty after seven years. It was held in Uherské Hradiště as recently as 2019, and this year the faculty is once again taking on the role of host.
“We want our students to view Europe as a natural part of their studies and professional lives. International experience gives them a different perspective on their field, on work, and on their own possibilities. And it is just as important for us to bring Europe to us—to Uherské Hradiště. ISSLIB is exactly the kind of activity that can bring these two perspectives together,” adds Prof. Ing. Zuzana Tučková, Ph.D.
ISSLIB 2026 will take place as a Blended Intensive Program (BIP) under the Erasmus+ program. For students, this represents an opportunity to gain international experience directly as part of their studies, get to know a new academic environment, and establish contacts with peers from various parts of Europe. For academics, it offers a space to share experiences and explore further opportunities for collaboration.
For the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Humanities, hosting ISSLIB is also an opportunity to showcase what not only the faculty itself but also the entire region has to offer. This time, Europe isn’t just coming for a visit. It’s coming here to work together, discuss, learn, and explore new avenues for collaboration.
And perhaps that is precisely where the greatest value of the entire symposium lies. Five days is a short time. But if, during that time, several new friendships, ideas, or collaborations are formed that continue even after the participants return home, ISSLIB 2026 will remain meaningful long after the bustle of the international group has quieted down in Uherské Hradiště.
Because the internationalization of the faculty isn’t just about how many countries we have on the map. It’s primarily about how many people from these countries we can connect.
