Tomas Bata University in Zlín

Prof. RNDr. et Mgr. Peter Chrastina, PhD. works at Faculty of Arts,  Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Trnava (SK) and Faculty of Logistics and Crisis management, Tomas Bata University in Zlín (CZ).  As a member of the Department of Historical Sciences and Central European Studies and Department of Environmental Security he gives lectures on historical geography, history of environmental thinking and other disciplines. He specializes in the field of long-term landscape changes (from prehistory to the present day including the prognosis of the expected development) using research methods of historical geography, landscape archeology and cultural geography. He also deals with the transfer of the basic research results to social practice (environmental planning). During the last decade he has been particularly concerned with the historical geography of the Slovak enclaves in the Great Hungarian Plain (Hungary, Romania, Serbia). Furthermore he has dealt with  the land use/land cover development in the industrial landscape and he has also studied Matthias Bel’s Notitia Hungariae Novae historico-geographica from the first half of the 18th centrury from the point of view of historical geography and environmental history.
